Launched in 2022 and backed by Providence Strategic Growth (“PSG”), Backlight is a media technology holding company that has acquired award-winning software businesses in video content ideation, production, post production, distribution and analysis. Initially the group consists of five fast-growing media technology brands: ftrack, Celtx, iconik, Wildmoka and Zype.

PSG was founded in 2014 as an affiliate of Providence Equity Partners (“Providence”) and targets growth equity investments in mid-market software and technology-enabled service companies. PSG is headquartered in Boston, MA, with offices in London and Kansas City. Since Providence’s inception in 1989, the firm has invested in more than 200 companies and become a premier asset management firm with c. USD 50 billion in aggregate capital commitments.

TARGET:

Ftrack was founded in 2012 and provides project management tools for the animation and VFX industry. With a revenue of c. SEK 50 million, Ftrack has thousands of users in over 60 countries working in animation, feature film, episodic TV, marketing & advertising, industrial design and virtual reality projects. The Company has offices in Stockholm (HQ), San Francisco, Adelaide and Shanghai.

SELLER:

Alfvén & Didrikson and founders. Alfvén & Didrikson is an active and long-term backer of passionate entrepreneurs and teams with international growth ambitions. Since 2010, Alfvén & Didrikson has made investments in c. 20 fast-growing Northern European companies. Founders will remain as shareholders.
