Physio-Control Inc., formerly a subsidiary to Medtronic Inc. but currently backed by Bain Capital is the world leader in the development, manufacture, sale and service of external defibrillator/monitors and emergency medical response products and services. Physio-Control acted as the international distributor of LUCAS© for several years but executed the acquisition in order to secure control of the strategically important product.

TARGET

Jolife AB, a medical technology company that had developed LUCAS®, the globally leading device for mechanical CPR. The company was initially a research coloration between a Norwegian paramedic and a Swedish professor. The project turned into an actual company in 2000 and has since been based in Lund in the very South of Sweden. Jolife had sales of SEK 60 million in 2011.
